First secret to weight loss

If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably been on a number of diets throughout your life possibly with some successes. However, the fact that you’re reading this article probably means that you’re still struggling with weight loss. I’m also still struggling, but I have had some success and most recently I have lost 7 kilograms over the past 7 weeks.

I’ve just returned from the Ukraine where I spent a week with the girl of my dreams. She doesn’t seem to care about my weight, but I am in love so obviously I want to look good for her next time we meet.

The fact that I’ve lost 7Kgs already is wonderful, but it’s not nearly enough. I’m going to lose 20Kgs within the next 20 weeks and for the past couple of days I have been thinking about how I can achieve this goal. I returned from the Ukraine on Wednesday evening and until today, Saturday, I have hardly eaten anything. On Thursday I ate 5 slices of bread during the day and fish with rice in the evening. Friday I again ate a couple of slices of bread and sushi in the evening. It is now 3:00pm on Saturday and so far today I have only eaten some boiled vegetables. While eating the vegetables I started wondering why it has been so easy to say no to the hamburgers, pizza and my all time junk-food favorite, Kentucky Fried Chicken.

The simple answer is that I am in love. This girl lives 10,000 kilometers away from me and how we are ever going to be together is a mystery to me, but I am constantly thinking about her. I can’t wait for the day that I can phone her and say “Hey Larisa, I have lost 10Kgs since you last saw me”!! The same is true of the 7Kgs that I have recently lost. I started to diet on the day that I booked the plane ticket to go visit Larisa and obviously my motivation was to lose a couple of kilograms before I left for our meeting.

In 1997 I lost 11Kgs in 26 days. Pretty impressive, but the only reason I achieved that was because I read a book by Anthony Robbins named Unlimited Power. Anthony only has one short section in the book about weight loss, but the whole book was extremely inspirational to me. After reading the book I believed I was capable of anything and I started the diet the next day. That weight stayed off for a couple of years, but in December 2006 I weighed 133Kgs again. At that point I was also in love and again I lost a lot of weight in a short period of time because I wanted to look good for the girl, or at least look better. When I realized halfway through 2007 that our relationship wasn’t going to work, the diet stopped and I picked up some of that weight again. As you’re reading this article I’m guessing you understand the roller coaster ride of weight loss as well as I do.

The simple thing that I realized this afternoon is that in all three cases the main reason I lost weight was because I was inspired. Anthony Robbins is not my type, wrong gender, so it is not just love but it is a mindset of wanting to lose weight. Get yourself inspired. Find a reason to lose weight and keep your mind focused on it. If it’s love then it’s easy, because you can’t help but think about the other person all the time. If you’re not in love, use that as an inspiration. How much easier would it be to find love if you’re confident and feel good about yourself and your body?
